A recipe in reverse:

Take one standard job description.

Remove the EOE boilerplate language written by lawyers designed to do nothing but keep the company from getting sued.

Remove the “about this company” script that some marketing hack wrote years ago to say something vague and nice about the organization besides “created to make as much money as possible” (full disclosure, I may have once been that marketing hack).

Remove the requirements section which is there to tell you who is allowed to apply.

What’s left?

What’s still there that actually talks about what the job is? A few meager scraps cobbled together from previous iterations of the job descriptions that may no longer reflect reality?

Is this what you’re counting on to attract and compel applications from the best and brightest? Really?
